My First Yorkie Hello Friends, I just recently adopted my first yorkie from a relocating family that could no longer care for her. My husband and I currently share our home with an amazing Siberian Husky who we've had for 4 years. They get along great and play constantly. My question is, what is a good food to feed her? She just turned 2 on June 19th (Happy Birthday Coco!). I've been giving small cups of my huskies grain free food to tide her over but I know I need to switch it in order for her to get what she needs out of her food. I've googled a few different brands but I figured that the experts here would know what's best! Thank you in advance! Kaley and Coco :animal-pa |
New Adopted Yorkie Hello Friends, Not sure if the last thread I posted went through, if it did - sorry for the duplicate! Just adopted a 2 year old yorkie from a family who was relocating and could no longer keep her. Have a 4 year old husky, they get along great... cutting to the chase-- I've been giving her small cups of my huskies grain free food (the adoption was unexpected, but we will make the most out of it!). What is the best food for a 2 year old, 5lb yorkie? I know how to feed my husky, but this is a whole new ball field for us! Any advice would be awesome. Nice to meet you all, this is an awesome website! Cheers, Kaley |
I give Zoey ( she is 2 and 1/2 pounds ) Wellness for small breeds, she seems to be doing great on it and this dog food has a lot of good reviews. That said, there are a few really good dog foods. Some people recommend home cooked diet, but I worry that I may not include all the nutrition she needs. I think you might want to talk to your Vet about what to feed her, but as I said I like Wellness. All the best with your new furbaby ! |
Welcome to YT and congrats on the new addition to your family, I would also like to thank you for adopting / rescuing. Sorry I cannot offer up advise on food as I have a 12 lb official lol "teapot" 4 y/o that's on Natural Balance limited ingredients. I'm sure someone will be along shortly that may be able to offer advise . |
Congrats on your new Yorkie and welcome to YT. One of the topics here that cause some of the most contentious threads here are about what to feed. I would see if you can find what the previous owner was feeding so you don't add another stress to the new dogs system. From there, in a couple of weeks/months you can research and decide what food would be best for your dog and make a gradual transition to the new food. Good luck!! |
It sounds like your husky is on a decent food - are you opposed to feeding that? I feed pre-made raw...either Primal or Natures Variety. Otherwise, good kibbles are Natures Logic, Natures Variety, Solid Gold's Wee Bits or Barking At The Moon, Acana/Orijen, Wellness Core... |
I usually home cook for my girls. My recipe is from Petdiets.com. They love it! Congrats on your new baby! |
