Weight Hello, we recently rescued a tiny Yorkie boy, Teddy. When I first got him, his ribs were very prominent, and his waist was tiny. He was 1.7kg, and he's now over 1.8kg, but I thought he'd have put a bit more weight on, we've had him a month. He's on the same food as my other dogs, it's high quality grain free, and I'm feeding him more than my 3kg dog, Poppy. I can still feel his ribs now, but they're not overly prominent like before. |
Are you concerned he is not gaining weight? If you are, I would talk to my vet and see what they suggest. Congrats on your new boy! |
Thank you, yes I was a bit concerned, but he is feeling a lot better now. I could feel every rib when I got him, and his waist was tiny. It was like he had no muscle too on his back legs etc. he's got a vet appointment this morning, so I'll get them to check everything for me. |
Praying your appointment goes well! Please let us know what the vet says. |
I wonder if he could have worms...? Has he been de-wormed? Otherwise, keep feeding for weight gain, and also add in calorie-dense treats like bits of cheese and peanut butter. |
Thank you, I have updated about the vet visit on the other thread. Yes I de wormed and de flead Teddy just after I found him. |
