What do you use for flea prevention?
 
I had an alzoo flea collar on her, but it smelled! What do you use?

We use sentinel which covers heartworms, fleas, and intestinal parasites.

I use this also. But she has been extremely itchy lately and I thought I saw a flea on her! I will call the vet, but her recent itching has been out of control and I have some sort of small insect bite on my leg (she sleeps in my bed). I'm wondering if I need a topical too, or maybe she just has allergies and my bite is unrelated.

You could use frontline plus.
Sentinel won't prevent adult fleas from hopping on the dog...it works by disrupting the female's ability to lay her egg case. I haven't had any fleas ever using frontline (I did 1/2 doses) and this summer we are using sentinel with good results.

I've never needed it and I'm not even sure why. We've lived in various states, but my dogs have never gotten fleas. I'm going to go knock on wood.

We sentenel too, but we have never had a flea problem since moving to town. My DH keeps a nice manicured lawn and I don't think they like the constant mowing, watering and fertilizer. Having said that something is biting my dogs but it doesn't look like flea bites.

flea collars are not usually that safe or effective, I personally would not use one. I do not have to use any flea meds since I use flea busters in my place, good luck

Never had a flea problem anyway, but we've been using Nexgard for fleas/ticks (more so for ticks) and haven't had any problems yet!
