Loose Teeth 3 Attachment(s) Hi everyone. This is my first post and would like to get your input regarding my 9 year old yorkie. I regularly brush her teeth (around 5-6x / week) and has very little plaque. She gets her cleaning from the vet every 1-2 years. I also mix Oxyfresh Oral Hygiene Solution to her drinking water and give her treats /toys that helps clean her teeth and freshen her breath . Two nights ago I was brushing her teeth and I noticed that one of her bottom small tooth (incisors) was loose. I felt so bad that I may have caused her tooth to loosen with the way I brush it as she made a 'crying' sound when I brushed it. Next morning, I checked her tooth and was horrified to find out that most of her bottom teeth are all loose (all incisors). I quickly made an appt to her vet and he recommended to pull out all 6 of her bottom incisors. I am leaning more on not getting her teeth pulled out as it will be stressful for her to go through and just let them fall off on their own. Has anyone here been through the same situation as I have? what did you do? How did you manage to maintain the loose teeth? Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
Hi and welcome to YT :)!! Your baby is just ADORABLE!!! I would not let the teeth fall out on their own bc it could be dental issues that are causing them to be loose and you don't want rotting/bad teeth affecting her heart, like teeth can do. I would absolutely get them safely pulled by a dentist. |
He certainly is a smiley little dude. I would consult the vet again and let him know the concerns that you are having. Give him a chance to tell you why the extractions would be in your little girls best interest. Weigh the information and make the decision that will be best for your girl's situation. Good luck and welcome to YT!! |
If this was my dog, I would have the vet do the job. It's more important to protect the larger teeth than the little incisors. I had to have Winston's incisors removed too and he is only 4. I think for her health, your vet is correct, and don't worry, it's not a big deal, they recover very quickly and then her mouth will be clean and disease-free. Good luck. |
Bad teeth (infection) in humans can go to the brain and cause death. I don't know if it works the same with dogs. |
