Picky Eater Cooper has been picky since I have gotten him!!! I thought most puppies woul eat anything but not him!! The vet said it was good when dogs were picky because it shows they are self regulating (something of the sorts). I feel bad because he wont eat any treats or anything besides his dog food! Anyone else have picky eaters? What kind of treats do they like? Thanks! |
Picky eater here too At first, Bella would actually eat dry food. Then one day she just turned her nose up at it. Thought she just wasn't hungry and didn't think too much about it. Then the next day, same thing. To the point that she got severely lethargic, sleeping a whole day while I held her, but not getting up to do anything but pee. We got scared and got her to eat a little chicken and rice soup... then daddy revoked the "no people food" rule and we have now got her eating roasted chicken breast. I know that it is not a long term answer, but for now she is eating. This has been for about 5 days now, so I know soon we will either have to find a commercial food that she will eat or add some supplements to her diet somehow. Does anyone have a good supplement that they can get their picky eaters to eat? Also any advice on what your picky Yorkie eats would be appreciated! |
Veau is a picky eater as well. I had her on Fromm which she picked over but eats sparingly. Then I topped it with Stella and Chewy's freeze dried and she at it up for a few weeks. Now she'll eat the SC but pick over Fromm. I was decideing between The Honest Kitchen and Primal to completely switch her to(SC Surf & Turf had bones that were poking me repeatedly). THK looks a bit soupy so I'm going to pass on that and just order a variety pack of Primal and see how she likes it. |
I give cauliflower, bits of apple and other fruits, and cheese for treats ever so often. |
Do you mean picky like he refuses to eat at times....has a poor appetite in general (which could mean a health issue)? Or is it more like he's just picky about what he likes? It would be nice if you could find some chews he would like as those are important for teeth. I use CET Chews, RMBs, Honest Kitchen Beams, and Munchy Stix (I know, not the best). |

He eats his food well as long as it has some Stella and Chewy's lamb morsels on it!! I smash it up before I give it to him and I haven't found any bones so far thank goodness!!! He eats his dog food well, I just meant like treat wise, I can't find anything he likes!!! Like I wanted something for a reward when he potties on the pad or outside but every treat I buy he turns his nose up at!!! All my friends have had their dogs spoiled because when he doesn't eat them I give them away to friends lol!!! But I mostly meant picky about what treats he likes. I feel bad when he pees on the pad or outside and all I can say is good boy with no treat :( |
I use Salmon Oil and squirt that on their kibbles and mix it in. They love it but it does smells fishy. At least it's healthy for them. |
