Baby teeth *Please see photo* 1 Attachment(s) Our little jax showed me his toofers today, and WOW! His baby teeth are not falling out yet. He is 7½ months. See the double row? Bella's all came out on their own. Would you go ahead and let the vet get the baby teeth out? or give it a little bit longer? He is not having any pain or discomfort, he eats great and throws his toys all over like he always has... He is so small, and moves his head SO fast, it is super hard to see in there. Just got lucky with the photo... The second set was not there last month when he got his rabies shot and exam. Attachment 405551 Thanks everyone :-) |
It's very common to have retained puppy teeth with Yorkies and are removed during their neuter. When are you planning a neuter? Since he's already 7 1/2 months old it should be sooner than later. Usually the extra teeth are removed at that time. |
The same thing happened to both Max & Sasha. Both had them removed when they were spayed/neutered. It's a common thing |
DeeDee has the shark teeth too. She's getting them removed when she's spayed. |
Has he been fixed yet? If not I would just them both done now. If you leave them to long they can mess up the alignment of there teeth and cause food to get stuck between them and cause rotting. |

Wow he has some choppers! My Teddy was a little double rowed shark too and had them removed when he was neutered at 6 mos old. He ended up having some problems w/ his teeth anyway as an adult, but that is just because of anatomy and breeding. I would get your puppy used to a toothbrush if you haven't already and brush every day for the best odds at a healthy mouth. Good luck! |
Wow what a great pic! I never saw them like that...poor baby...yep I would get moving on that cuz soon they will start stinking too...did you have the surgery yet? Vets/Dr's can do surgery on anyone, just think how many newborn human babies have surgery, elderly humans, gravelly injured animals and people...weight is not a huge barrier, the expertise of the anesthesia protocols are.... |
My yorkie heidi had same thing with her teeth I had her teeth pulled when had her spayed this past week I would do soon so that does not ruin his mouth |
I was supposed to have Elliot spayed this week but after reading many comments on here about double teeth, I canceled her appointment and am waiting until she is older. She has quite a few double teeth right now and I am waiting to see if they fall out or if she will have to have them removed when she is spayed. |
I was going to ask this same question. Sunni has 2 double front teeth, but only 1 row of all the rest. Unfortunately she had to have an early spay to correct a serious problem and at that time the vet didnt pull any teeth. She will officially be 6 months old tomorrow. I hate the thought of a 3rd surgery on this little baby. How long can I give it before it becomes a problem? She's on an antibiotic for a bladder infection that she got after the spay. She's still got 5 days of medication for that! |
