Good dog food for weight management Hey guys.... I have Charlie on RC Satiety Support. I use to have him on RC Yorkshire terrier... but he always gains too much weight on it and then his knees start bothering him. What else would be a good choice for a yorkie that needs to manage his weight besides the satiety support? |
I am presently feeding my 3 Wellness Small Breed Healthy weight. I alternate with Wellness Small Breed Senior which is similar. At almost 6 yrs old Karlee needs to loose a pound or to, while her litter mate Kayla eats more but is perfect weight. Tiki at 7 is maintaining a good weight though looks thin because she is so tall. All 3 are fairly inactive. Most of the weight loss formulas only have 10% fewer calories than the regular formulas. I think cutting back on the portion and replacing with green beans to help them feel full is more effective than just switching to a lower cal version to lose weight. |
RC may have a "mini" indoor/lower calorie options. I'd stick with RC. |
RC isn't one of my favorites. But if your dog like it why not just feed him a little less? If he's gaining weight he's getting enough especially if he's overweight?? |
Nancy1999 posted an update recently on her kiddos here. In the thread, she talks about both issues of satiety and of needed weight loss...both of which was helped w/ Natures Logic. So maybe that's a kibble you may want to try? |
