White bumps turn scabbie and flaky on back Hello there, My yorkie is almost 3 years old and he has been experiencing some acne-like bumps along his lower back. These bumps are like pus-filled like and after a few days they just turn flakey and scabbie like. His brother, likes to lick the area where there are bumps when we are not home. We have gone to the vet twice, first they prescribe an oral medication, and the symptom was still present and I can't remember what oral it was. And recently, we went back to checkup and the dr still doesn't know what is wrong and gave him a steroid shot and another oral medicine. The dr did say licking spreads them. It has been 2 weeks and the bumps seem to move up and appearing closer to his neck. We try to monitor his brother from looking his back but he is still licking. Could it be skin allergies?? He is currently on Merrick food but we plan to switch black to Blue. We also use K9 advantage as our flea prevention and I don't think it could be the K9 since he has been on it since he was a baby. If it allergies it is more likely to be environmental because food allergies are rare. I also would not use blue buffalo. You probably need to take him to a vet dermatologist. |
The first time we went to the vet, the dr recommended a shampoo called Stratford aloe and oatmeal. We have been using it for a month now and it doesn't seem to make a difference. His hair is black and silver, thick and rich. He isn't losing any hair either. The dr said the next step would be to see a vet dermatogolist if we decide to. I took a look at the link and Folliculitis seems like a close description. Thanks |
