Home cooking I have always wanted to home cook for my Chibimaru, but I was worried about not doing it correctly. I plan to ask my vet about it. I am lucky to have a great vet. If you home cook, please weigh in on how you got started (how did you consult your vet or other, etc) and how do you make it manageable for you? Where do you find the appropriate vitamins and how do you calculate calories. Thank you!:aimeeyork |
I bought recipes for mine from Petdiets.com. Dr remilard is a vet nutritionist and my guys are doing great on the home cook food. It was a bit of a daunting task to begin with I won't lie. But now that I've been doing it for several months it's not hard at all. |

Thanks Thanks! I will check that out! |
I've been cooking for nearly 15 years now for my pets! I too have diets from petdiets and use balanceit as well. BalanceIt has free recipes you can generate and their module calculates the amount of food your dog will need and each ingredient plus tells you how much to add. I like the petdiets "chicken and peas" and "chicken and sweet potato" diets. I add fresh veggies and rotate the types. Sometimes I change chicken to hard boiled egg or another source of protein like beef or lamb or pork, but most of the time, I stick with the same items. Good luck! |
Thank you! I really appreciate your help! It's good to others who have successfully home cooked! My Chibi is getting older and I feel like I could do better feeding him. I've always been interested in home cooking, but was worried about difficulty ect. |
