My vet just said, "No Chicken Soup" Ceeby has had another terrible day. he has had Nutrical three times today and no food or water at all and is dry heaving so I took him to the vet today. He thinks the Cesers he ate yesterday is what messed him up today and told me to stop feeding it. I asked him about the Chicken Soup food, not that Ceeby eats more than a kibble or two but i wanted to know, and he said, "Oh no, please don't give him anymore. It's not on the recall list yet but probably will be soon." He said no matter what date is on it, not to feed it to Ceeby. Sooooooo, I guess my little dog will starve to death. That and the Ceser's is all he will eat. He had been really sick since Sunday but was well yesterday and eating fine. Playing and being frisky. Then started going downhill this afternoon. So you guys feeding Chicken Soup might want to see what your own vet says about it. I have a wonderful vet that knows his stuff. I will take his advice. |
Why does he think it's the cesar's? I'm just curious because that's all Cali will eat and lately she doesn't want that unless I mix it with hamburger or chicken. My pom has been on Cesars for over 8 years and has had no problem. |

Thanks I know Cesar isn't a good food but it's the only dogfood Cali will eat. |
How about boiling some chicken and just feeding him real chicken and rice for a couple days until he feels better and then work him back into another healthy dog food. I mix shredded chicken with the chicken broth into my girl's kibble and she loves it. |

I don't think it will be on the recall list. The bacteria is corn related, and there is no corn in Chicken Soup. |
"Testing of more than 2,700 finished product samples conducted by independent laboratories confirms that only Diamond Maintenance Dog and Diamond Premium Adult Dog with "Best By" dates of April 3, April 4, April 5, and April 11, 2007, are potentially toxic. These products also will have a capital "G" (in reference to the company's Gaston, S.C., facility) in the 11th or 12th position of the date code (18 lb. to 55 lb. bags). The capital "G" will be in the 9th position on smaller 4 lb. to 8 lb. bags. Test results for all other products have not been toxic. As a proactive precautionary measure, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul and Premium Edge brands have been tested and are negative for aflatoxin. It is important for consumers to note that Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul and Premium Edge brands are not included in the product recall. " |

What scares me if they're not eating it then maybe they know something we don't. There were many owner of sick/dead dogs from the Diamond food that said that they're dogs went off of the food, but they covered it up with gravy or something else just so they would eat it. They literally poisioned their own dogs! Sometimes I think that they know better then us. I always make my own "chicken soup" for them. I add all the vegetables to the broth just like it's for us, the only thing that They love the soup mixed with the chopped chicken and veggies. It's not something that they get all the time but it's a special treat I make for them. You could always crush some dry food and add it to the soup... |
Has your baby been tested for physical problems? GI problems like irritable bowel, bacteria, etc. Also, has SS or Liver shunt been considered? These babies can scare us to death and sometimes it is just something they will outgrow.. |
I tried Cesers once because I thought my girls would like the variety, but it made them both sick too (first vomiting then diarrea). At first I thought it was something else like a virus etc,but my vet said that cesers is very rich and some dogs just cant handle it,its not very popular here at all for that reason. Iv never used it again. |
Geez, when we got our baby they gave us Cesers and Eukaneuba dry food to eat. We have kept on the cesers b/c we're scared to change her food, but last week she was dry heaving and gagging- i was HYSTERICAL and went to the vet and they said kennel cough antibiotics are done, but shes still coughing on and off- but yesterday she wasnt eating much and dry heaving and moaning again! she was wheezing too- but through her nose- and her chest was up and down so heavy! we're going to a different vet tomorrow that a friend recommended- Ill have to ask about this food |
My vet also said no to the chicken lovers food, said it is made by diamond and there can be cross contamination, that the machines used do not have to be carefull cleaned between processing the diamond food and the chicken lovers, yes mine loved it too,but we made a change throwing out 20 lbs to the garbage can..also lately when I have tried to feed ceasers, the dogs acted like I was trying to poisen them, they tried to bury it,then I smelled it and it truely smelled rotton, also I noticed alot of what appeared to be guts in it..so back to a chicken boiled with rice, sweetpotatoe, greenbeans carrots and whatever veggies are in the freg..at least I know the food is safe enough for humans, and are they not my hairy little people? can't be too safe |
