How much should my 2 year old female Yorkie weigh? My little one was recently taken to the vet for a yearly check up, and the vet told us that she weighs 11 pounds, and should only weigh 9. I unfortunately had to work today so I couldn't ask any questions to the vet, and they haven't called me back yet. Is 11 pounds very unhealthy for my dog? |
It depends on her size and build. If the vet thinks she could do with losing a bit, she probably needs to. Exercise her more, measure out her daily food, and give her healthy treats like carrot, apple, peas, watermelon, green beans, etc., instead of more highly caloric treats. |
I assume if the Vet says she should be 9lbs. She is over weight. Most ppl let there dogs get over weight. 2 lbs in reality is a lot. If yo can see her waist and if you can' t feel her ribs when pressing most likely she is. If you feel back fat ect... less food more exercise. |
It depends on your dog. There is no every dog should be a certain weight thing. It depends on your dogs build and stuff. If your vet thinks your dog is over weight then your dog is over weight. |

Your vet knows best. Do as KazzyK810 suggests. Every time I take Cody to the vet I think he could loose a pound, my vet tells me noooo, he is perfect weight for his size. Cody is a bigger yorkie, weighs in at 12 Lbs. |
