Home cooking is a great choice. |
Just heard that Nature's Logic changed their formulas without prior notice to their customers. I wanted to pass this along since I know that a few people were upset when another company made changes without letting people know. Seems this is something that is normal. Yikes, I'll stick w/ my home cooking. |

I don't know if it is a significant issue with the food to their customers but prior anger expressed here was that companies should disclose ingredient changes to customers and that it's almost unethical not to notify on the packaging. i never really saw that much into this initially but now I'm concerned that companies are doing this. A change from pig to lamb plasma might create an allergy issue or sensitivity, etc. how hard is it for these companies to be transparent?! I hope this is something that isn't a big deal, but it does raise the bait and switch issue again, which may be unacceptable. |
I would email them and ask. Maybe they did more than this person said, but it didn't sound like it. |

The bag is completely different so that would give consumers some type of awareness that the ingredients had changed. Old Ingredients. Chicken Meal, Millet, Chicken Fat, Pumpkin Seed, Yeast Culture, Spray Dried Chicken Liver, Dried Egg Product, Suncured Alfalfa Meal, Montmorillonite Clay, Dried Kelp, Cheese Powder, Spray Dried Porcine Plasma, Dried Tomato, Almonds, Dried Chicory Root, Dried Carrot, Dried Apple, White Fish Meal, Egg Shell Meal, Dried Pumpkin, Dried Apricot, Dried Blueberry, Dried Spinach, Dried Broccoli, Dried Cranberry, Parsley, Dried Artichoke, Rosemary, Mixed Tocopherols, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Casei Fermentation Product, Dried Bifidobacterium Bifidium Fermentation Product, Dried Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus Coagulans Fermentation Product, Dried Pineapple Extract, Dried Aspergillus Niger Fermentation Extract, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Extract, Dried Trichoderma Longibrachtium Fermentation Extract New ingredients. Chicken Meal, Millet, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Pumpkin Seed, Yeast Culture, Spray Dried Chicken Liver, Dried Egg Product, Alfalfa Nutrient Concentrate, Montmorillonite Clay, Dried Kelp, Spray Dried Lamb Plasma, Dried Tomato, Almonds, Dried Chicory Root, Dried Carrot, Dried Apple, Menhaden Fish Meal, Dried Pumpkin, Dried Apricot, Dried Blueberry, Dried Spinach, Dried Broccoli, Dried Cranberry, Parsley, Dried Artichoke, Rosemary, Dried Mushroom, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus casei Fermentation Product, Dried Bifidobacterium bifidium Fermentation Product, Dried Enterococcus faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus coagulans Fermentation Product, Dried Pineapple Extract, Dried Aspergillus niger Fermentation Extract, Dried Aspergillus oryzae Fermentation Extract, Dried Trichoderma longibrachiatum Fermentation Extract Here is the reply I received. The only change in the chicken as to remove cheese (dairy product) requested by many consumers. We replaced it with dried mushroom which supplies a lot of natural Vitamins D2. Also, due to consumer requests, we change from using porcine plasma to ovine plasma. Lastly, we removed Alfalfa Meal and replaced it with Organic Alfalfa Nutrient Concentrate from Switzerland. The reason for this change was because almost all alfalfa from the USA is GMO. All of these changes were improvements. I have no problem with these changes. There are still no synthetic vitamins and that's really important to me. |
I still think companies should tell people of the changes. You have no problem with the changes, but others might. As you pointed out in the past, it seems untrustworthy and almost unethical not to. The packaging may be new, but does it say that the formula is new? If not, seems sketchy. |

I asked if I missed it on the bag, and they didn't answer that I had. I also asked where they manufacture their food and got no reply. They don't think these are ingredient changes, just "tweaks for the better" and that customers wanted the change from pork blood plasma to lamb plasma. I am not sure I think customers would know the difference between pork and lamb plasma but have no reason to disbelieve him. I will disagree that a change like beef liver to pork liver isn't an ingredient change, and I read that they did that in the beef formula. |

Everyone must be diligent and if reading ingredient lists is really important to you, then do not ever assume any food you may swear by, is not doing "tweeking" and "adjusting formulas" for the better......this is really important especially if your pup has GI issues or food intolerances, allergies, etc.....these "tweeks" may be normal for dog food companies, but changes in ingredients and formulations, while not blaringly, boldly emblazoned on packaging that changes have been made (perhaps they SHOULD have been!), hopefully the ingredients lists will reflect the changes and it is up to the consumers to read and review and re-assess the ingredient list with EACH bag you buy, to see if the "tweeks" being made are acceptable to them and their pet! If you have selected a pet food formula/company that you trust and entrust that they perhaps know more about formulas and substitutions than perhaps you do, then there is no harm done! I wish the nutritionist for the company would come and respond to questions about changes they have made, why the changes were made, where they source their individual ingredients, etc...... |

He mentioned cheese to me too. And how it was only 1% in their food ...customers still wanted it removed. 1% seems very tiny an amount for customers to worry about, but I again have no reason to disbelieve what he's saying. |

First off, God, what stunning little guys you have! Second, I have a documented picky eater but I would love to have her try this as from what you have said about it, I think Bella might like it. |
