fyi -- Changes coming to Sentinel heartworm med I just got back from the vet for Jezebel and Chuy's annual check-up. No big issues (Yay!). Chuy needs a dental, which the vet said didn't need to be done immediately, but we scheduled for next week anyway. He also had the very beginning of some sort of ear infection which we got some drops for and it should clear right up. He wasn't even showing symptoms yet, so glad we caught it early. Jezebel has some tartar but did not need a dental. The vet could not get over it, since she is 5 years 5 months old and has never needed one. He has a 2 year old Yorkie (I love that our vet has a Yorkie) and he said she needs one soon. But back to the main reason for my post. I bought a full years worth of Sentinel for both of them. He said that Eli Lilly had bought Novartis' animal health pharmaceutical business and they had changed the formulation, but the practice had about a six month supply of the original so they wouldn't be switching their patients anytime soon. The packaging is different, and they have added one more ingredient -- praziquantel -- to also kill tapeworms. It is called "Sentinel Spectrum," and I notice when searching online it is already available. IMO, if you don't have flea problems, why treat for tapeworms every month? It's overkill. Especially since if tapeworms are discovered, you can get rid of them either with one injection or two pills. Although I don't think it will hurt the dog, it just isn't necessary. So, just a "heads up," in case you want to stock up while you can. |

So I have no idea what I am going to if that happens. |
So Sentinel Spectrum is available as a pill and a chew? |

Sentinel Spectrum is only available in chew form. I was just saying I still have the just regular Sentinel pill form, so if they stop selling that, I have no idea what I will do. |
