Fattening up a yorkie My dog has been diagnosed with CHF and has lost over a pound. He's so skinny and he's eating most things I give to him. Does anyone have any advice on stuff to really fatten him up? Right now he eats: Orijen dry food Boiled Chicken Scrambled eggs apples broccoli, cauliflower ground turkey and beef (thinking about cooking this with coconut oil for the extra fat?) I always give him a little bit of peanut butter for his meds but I worry about the sodium in this. I've read about something called nutri-plus gel that can help? I also want to start him on a fish oil supplement and vitamin B supplements... any help or advice is greatly appreciated! |
Hi - is the CHF severe right now, already? Technically, he really shouldn't be losing weight from CHF. Has thyroid and diabetes been checked? I'd feed calorie dense foods, in moderation of course, like peanut butter, bits of cheese, and Nutri-Cal. |
