Please I could use some advice Hey everyone I have a morkie female and a yorkie akc male both are the loves of my life!! I decided that I wanted to let my babies have one litter of puppy's so we may add another to our home and have several interested people if we do end up with puppies . So anyhow my morkie named cupcake is 18 months and went into heat in January and then around I believe 14 to 20 days into it which I wrote down in somehow lost my paperwork so I don't know the first day she started but I do know that on Jan 23rd my girl started pushing her tail to one side even when I would touch the base of her tail she would move it to the side but she started doing that and my male yorkie who's exactly the same age kept trying to mate her , but I didn't witness an actrual tie which I was trying hard to keep them in my sights but the next day they did indeed tie and stayed for a few minutes then he kept trying but I don't believe they did it again but the very next day they again tied and then the following day so the fourth day of her being in her zone she and him tried more but again I'm not fully sure they tied but they did tie twice at least!! Anyhow its now 15 almost 16 days since the first tie and her tiny tummy is swollen hard down lower and her private never went fully down from its initial swelling so it's still a bit swollen and she's been sleeping a lot in has just as of two days ago seemed distant at times but at others very needy and I'm noticing her tits more . So my question is if anyone else knows if this means she's most likely pregnant. I've been reading everyday on the whelping and I've watched countless births on utube and I've watched cats and horses deliver . I'd love all ur tips and as I said this will be they're only litter and they'll get fixed right after they're allowed thank u all n sorry sooo long!! |
It's a shame you bred a mix when there are so many mixes in shelters. You should have had a mentor to help you because there are many things that could go wrong and if you miss a small sign it could cost you your females life. I hope you have several thousand dollars set aside for emergencies and I hope she is more then five pounds. Poor girl she would have been happier spayed and just a loving pet. |
I don't know if anyone for sure can tell you if your female is pregnant without seeing her in person. She could be pregnant or it could be a false pregnancy. Can you take her to the vet and ask them to check for sure or at the very least have an experienced dog breeder(preferably that have dealt with small breeds) in your area that could check her? |
Shouldn't this be for the vet to determine? I don't think watching youtube videos and reading is a substitute for doggie prenatal care. I would see a vet. |

There are purebreds up for adoption as well. I literally rescued my yorkie from a bad situation off the street. I will always advocate for adoption and rescue. |
You may wish to have this thread moved to the Breeder Talk forum. Your female should definitely be seen by a vet to determine if she is pregnant, and beyond that, the people in the breeder forum should be able to give you further guidance. |
Wow first off my dog has A vet appointment next week and my dogs are well cared for I didn't post for u to be rude and insensitive, most of u bought ur dogs from breeders , my aunts out of town she breeds Maltese because she loves them in will be helping me but as I said she's gone for the next week, I was looking for tips and nice talk not ur opinions on my baby having puppy's. This will be her only litter and we have several family homes already for if she is pregnant , I wouldn't of let her have puppies if I knew for one minute they'd be unwanted so don't tell me they're not wanted because they're not going to be pure breeds I love my dogs and give the best care . Again this was not intended for u all to give such negativity to my family, this yorkie site is very friendly so I'm upset and will be talking to someone shortly . I hope u don't ruin this site for others . |
