supplements recommendations for senior yorkies Hi, all loving and experienced yorkie mommies out there! :D My two doggies are soon to be 8 years old. I am wondering if I should start them on supplements regularly. Lots of stories about yorkies being blind or deaf scared me. I just want to help them stay healthier and happier as they approach senior stage. Right now, the two kinds of supplements they are taking are: Flexicose for Joints (in the morning with food) and Salmon Oils (in the afternoon with fod). I also added a bit of vinegar to their food from time to time for their bladder control (sometime UTI) issues. Are there anything else out there that you would strongly recommend for yorkies age 8 and up? Thanks in advance. :) |
Two of mine are 14 and we don't use supplements except as needed for particular problems. One of them takes milk thistle for her liver disease and fish oil for her allergies. The other one doesn't take supplements. |
Hi fellow Arizonian! It's totally up to you whether or not you feed supplements. Supplements can def help support their needs, just as they can help support humans as well. You're already giving some nice ones with the joint support and fatty acid support (although the studies out there show joint support is really controversial as to whether it works). If interested in add'l supps, one company I like is this one for supps: Natures Farmacy Inc. |
chester gets salmon oil and opaws advanced mobility for his joints great stuff |
