Thoughts on Fromm dog food? I just bought a 5lbs bag of Fromm's Salmon à la Veg. I've only heard good things about it, but wanted an opinion from you guys. My babies seem to like it. They gobble it down like its a treat. What other blends do you guys like? I picked salmon à la veg because I heard salmon is good for their coat. The kibble is nice and small so they don't have trouble chewing it. |
I don't know anything about fromm. ...but Winnie was on salmon and sweet potato and her poo smelled awful....her vet said it was the salmon lol that being said....I know there are a lot of members here who feed fromm and I'm sure will be along with some support! |
My boys have been on Fromm Chicken a la Veg for years. They love it. |
We tend to feed the grain-free formulas (Lamb & Lentils being the one we feed the most) but the grain-inclusive are also good...we're just now starting a bag of the Whitefish and Potato. I think many of the formulas are similar composition-wise (aside from the featured protein source and kibble shape sometimes) so that's why they say that rotating various formulas can be done without any issue if you want (we don't get through bags quick enough to have more than one 4-5 pound bag of food open though). |
Fromm is the next food I'll try with our new adult dog, Zippy. Our old guy, Gucci, didn't like the Fromm samples we received. Four-Star Nutritionals for Dogs - Fromm Family Foods I'm looking at Salmon Tunalini to try first. It would be great to hear someone's opinion on the technical analysis: Salmon Tunalini Dog Food - Technical Analysis |

Zo has baked salmon (real fish) once a week..and boy does it smell up my whole kitchen! Don't like the smell, but Zo loves to eat it. |
I feed my puppy Fromm Puppy Gold and he loves. Also Fromm is a wonderful company that makes their own food in their own facility and hasn't had a recall. |
I guess the next blends we should try a chicken à la veg and possibly whitefish and potato? The girls so far haven't had any poo problems other than being gassy. I'm assuming this is because of the transition from their old food. Other than that I really like the food. Thier last food they were on was Taste of the Wild but thier poos were huge and they were even more gassy! How would you compare these two? |

I think chewy.com and petco have ok filters on their websites, compare some prices, ect. BUT!!! It is important to double check the ingredients at the manufacturer's websites before making your final decision. There are frequently discrepancies. |
One thing that a lot of people dislike about Taste of the Wild is that it is a Diamond brand. Diamond has not had the best track record for quality and has had a lot of recalls. Fromm has never had a recall and makes all their own formulas. If you are comparing TOTW to Fromm, you would actually have to compare the grain free formulas. Another grain inclusive formula that we have had good luck with is the Duck & Sweet Potato formula. My dogs love duck! Currently they are eating Canidae Pure Sky, which is a grain free duck based food. They really like it! |
