Rxn to topical flea preventative? Hello everyone! I know there are a ton of threads on this but I'd like to get some recommendations/review for various topical flea treatments (particularly Frontline or PetArmor?). We've been using K9 Advantix II which the pups had been doing fine on but the last couple of times I've applied it on Toki, she's acted kind of weird. It hasn't bothered her until recently. Yesterday evening after I applied the K9 Advantix, she started doing things like pacing back and forth across the top of the couch, laying under weird areas, and stomping around in big circles...acting restless. I'm not sure that it is safe for me to continue using it on her since she is reacting this way so I'd like to switch to something else. She currently gets Sentinel for HW and although it kills flea eggs, I'd like something for adult fleas. Thanks in advance! |
I use advantage for both my cats and dogs. It always kills the fleas and we have never had any reaction problems. All flea meds have different active ingredients so obviously the ones in the advantix arent agreeing with your yorkie |
Mine reacts poorly to topicals so I am using nexguard. No issues with it and it's nice not having to worry about getting on you or some one else getting it on them. It also always leaves a big greasy patch on Callie so happy not to have that anymore. |

She is reacting to the permethrin. it can make them feel like something is crawling on them. Assuming you do not need something for ticks then Sentinel and either Frontline or regular Adbantage. |
dog I use revolution on my Yorkies and have not had a problem. I only use it during the hot summer months since they are mostly indoors and do not get fleas during the other months. |
