Allergic to orijen dog food? I did my research and decided Origen is the best. I've been feeding it to him (10 months old) for about a month. In the beginning he would eat it. Now it takes him awhile and he seems apprehensive. I rotate between the 6 fish, puppy, and regional daily. Since I started giving it to him he seemed to roll around on the carpet to scratch himself more than usual. And he shakes his whole body (like when they are wet) way more often. Do you think maybe something in the food is making him itchy and he knows, that's why he doesn't really wanna eat it? Also I give him Acana sometimes too. He seems to like that better. Is it safe to say that if something in Origen is making him itchy, then Acana would do the same thing since it's the same company? I would just buy another food and see if his behavior changes, but he's the pickiest dog ever! Won't go near Wellness Core or BB. I tried adding Merrick wet and he throws up. And I've tried parmasan cheese and he literally takes each one, licks off the cheese, and puts the kibble on the floor. |
It's really so tough to say if his itchies are caused by the food. Food allergies are quite rare. But, ya never know. Might be worth just feeding the Acana for awhile and see how he does. |
My local store no longer carries Orijen because of all the troubles they had with returns. For the past year I have been using Farmina N&D in Wild Boar and Chicken and I am thrilled with it. |
His ear smells now. I think he has an ear infection. |
I have a vet appt tomorrow for an allergy test. |
I just posted something about the same thing. My dog shakes alot like when a dog is wet and I think because he is itchy. It is so frustrating. I have tried changing his food to. But I read if it is a food allergy it comes on in vomitting and diareah. So I am thinking mine is envirormental. I was hoping once the winter came he would do better but he is the same. I do give him claritin that does seem to help for about 6 hours. If you find something that helps your pup please let me know |
I got my results back. No food allergies. Allergic to trees, really bad with Mayberry trees, weeds, and mites. I bought 25mg Benadryl and am cutting them in 4s and giving him a piece at breakfast and a piece at dinner. |
