Yorkies won't eat???????? HELP!!! My Yorkies WON'T eat anything, we have bought everything under the sun ( which is giving them stomach problems) and made homemade as vet suggested, we made Chicken and white rice and they don't even want that. They are all 13 with an elevated BUN levels but seem fine they go for walks play everything but eat. I am totally beside myself. Every once in awhile they might "pick" at a little food but always walk away then maybe come back and eat just a little My husband and i are going nuts trying to coax then into eating I am so worried about them Anyone run in to this and what can i do????????????????????:( |
How many Yorkies? Do you mean they are 13 years old? When did the eating problems start? |
I found out with my Zoey for SOME reason , commercial dog food just doesn't make her tummy feel very good. One night, and we still don't know WHY, she started vomiting and became very lethargic, ended up in ER for 2 days. Long story short they put her on Hills ID , canned ,I couldn't believe she would eat it, but she loved it. It made her FEEL better. She was like a different dog! Please try it....get directly from the vet....its for sensitive tummys. A month later she seemed so much better , growing and gaining weight , she did get tired of it and had to be coaxed to eat it so I jusy switched over to home cooking....which is sooooooooo easy .....must try! Read up on it , my vet recommended.... She comes running now at mealtime ...happy baby....this was this past summer and is now a year and a half old. Good luck |
I did go the "grain free" , limited ingredient canned and kibble ...when I was struggling trying to find something she "liked" that first year.......FLAVORS and brands.....whew! |
Thanks for replys Yes they are sisters, 13 y/o We lost there mother Ginger to same thing I have tried Hills from Vet they won't eat it and I have used LID ( limited ingredients) I think i have had everything on the market it makes me so sad Tonight i got lucky after some coaxing i for them to eat roasted chicken and rice !!!!!! I guess its another trip to vet (sigh) |
Feeding a one year old Our little sweet pea is so hard to feed--now she is on evangers complete meal --canned lamb and rice---any other feeding that brand? |
Eating issues con't i haven't heard of evangers complete meal i will look it up I am desperate i made the chicken with rice yesterday it was a no go, so i added some gravy still a hard sell, they finally ate 1/2 after MUCH coaxing. They shouldn't even really be eating protien with there BUN levels Rosie's was really high last time we had it checked I don't know how i will deal with losing them and probably close together I cry now on some days just thinking about it :cry::cry: Thanks for response i will check out food |
Hard too feed God bless you for trying so hard--we have had yorkies for all of our married life. Lost three and still we cry over our loved ones-maybe this will help-- we are 85 & 86--our litttle sweet pea is one year old---and very hard to please--my wife will cut the canned evangers in 1/2 in. Cubes, morning and evening sweet pea sits on my lap-- marilou holds the little blue plate and feeds her one at a time. It works!!!!! She will not eat from a plate--we send our love |
sundancer from solid gold works well for picky eaters grain free and weruva wet food |
Yikes! Have you tried different brands of dry and canned food? Have you tried cooking some food for him? Just try some chicken to start, and just boil it and cut it into small pieces. Or perhaps flavor the food a bit, maybe with a bit of sugar? That is odd that he doesn't want to eat at all. |
eating My little guy wont eat except if i feed him one small piece at a time. Doesn't like to eat out of a bowl or plate. I have spoiled him |
What news today? I can usually persuade my girl to have a spoonful of natural yoghurt by letting her lick it off the spoon - once she's finished it she has developed an appetite and will eat kibble. Favourite kind is Royal Canin Adult Mini and I also cook chicken and rice or salmon and rice but the yoghurt kickstarts the whole thing. |
