Olive Oil for Eyes Has anyone tried giving their Yorkies Olive Oil to clear up their eyes, and are there any issues with health if you give them some every day/second day etc. I just gave Max some olive oil on his food (which he loved) since he's a pretty finiky eater. Anyway, I noticed that his eye mucous isn't as bad anymore! Has anyone else experienced somthing like this? |

Hmmmm..I'm not sure. I've never tried that before, but it sounds interesting. I'm curious to see if anyone else has done this. |

I put olive oil in lexi's food every day. i think i helps her coat too... |

It makes sense.. it helps alot of things,, humans included. |

Cool! I might have to try that...It does make sense that it could help their coat too. |

wow olive oil huh....how much? |

How Much Olive Oil? I dribbled it on his kibble, and then sortof stirred it up a bit, I think it amounted to just less than a teaspoon. He also likes it if i add a few sprinkles of water to the food. I'm really interested to know how much Lexi Rae's mom puts on her food, Lexi looks great! I haven't noticed any change yet in Max's hair, but that might take a little longer...I noticed the change in his eyes right away though, like the next day. ;) |

Virgin or extra Virgin?? |

Long term should help with there joints to. As a child (long long ago) I can remember my mum giving us a couple of teaspoons every night she said it also gave us a good tan in the summer. |

The purer the better I should think. |

extra virgin Yes, I'm pretty sure I have Extra Virgin olive oil. I'll confirm when I go home for lunch. :) |

 yes..it is extra virgin |

interesting to know. i'll have to try this out with her. |

oh wow Oh wow, i never thought about that, im gonna try that too |

Any Results? Hi There, I'm just wondering if anyone experienced any results if they tried the olive oil. I've switched Max's food to some kind of organic food, made with some fish, so its full of omegas (so they say). I've stopped the olive oil, and his tears are back, however, not as bad, and I can keep up with the face washing. (It wasn't really that bad, but he was never really that clean before). I'll probably go back to the olive oil in another week. ;) Thanks to the food, I think, his fur is so shiny now, and the curls... cute! (I believe he's a cotton coat, cuz his hair is curly on the legs, and he matts quite easily.) He rarely wears his collar, because by the end of the walk his fur gets matted... and its just a nylon collar, not even tight or anything. And we try to go to off leash parks so that he doesn't 'have' to wear his harness. I'm trying to let the hair get a little longer for the 'winter'. I can hardly call what we have now winter though... :thumbdown (no snow). |
