Superficial eye rim injury
 
My fingernail nicked the lower rim of Max's eyelid. We were putting on leashes and he spun around into my finger. There was no blood, no yelping, but the black rim is scraped. It is flesh color now.

Has anyone's Yorkie had damage to the black rim of the eye? Does it heal and return to black?

I am thankful that no harm was done to his eye. Strictly a vanity question.

Only a few hours later and it is already healing nicely. I think it will be okay.

Oh poor guy !! I haven't had that happen with an eye but I did do it to our chihuahuas black nose. ...it stayed pink her whole life. But I didn't care any! Glad u didn't hit his eyeball and 8th seems better already!!!

No healing color experience to share but man I know how bad that feels to accidentally cut someone you love with your fingernails- I'm sorry for you cause gosh that feels awful And I am so glad that your special mans eye wasn't injured. Hope it blackens back up! :longyorkie:

Thank you ladies. Max had a scrape on his nose once too. It wasn't deep enough to be pink, more greyish. It healed completely.

I'll try to take a picture of his eye tomorrow.

Poor dude! I didn't know about the eye but was going to say Jackson had a pretty bad cut on his nose and I thought it would forever look like that. It ended up turning black again. So I assumed the eye rim would be similar!

Oh good, yay! Really glad to read it's already lookin' good! It sounds like it was uber superficial then, which is great. Hope it's still looking good today.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. His eye lid is looking good, just the little blip in the center of the lower rim. Might be scabbing, but it is not the color of his skin like when I first discovered it.

My nails are short, but apparently not short enough!
