Foamy vomit Hi! I have a 2 year old female yorkie who is always getting into stuff. Yesterday she started vomiting, threw up a few times, ate dinner and drank normally, had normal energy then went to sleep a little earlier than normal. This morning she had energy when she woke up, went out to potty normally but then didn't want to eat and then threw up just a tiny (size of a quarter) amount of clear foam. The only time she has ever thrown up in the past was due to eating something she shouldn't have, so I assumed that was what this was, but am a little worried it happened again today. My main question is someone watched her last week and gave her one of those white bone things. If that is what is causing her sickness (swallowed too big of a piece maybe) will it eventually dissolve and pass through her or will she need surgery to have it removed? We have insurance for her, so it is free for her to see the vet; however, my experience is either they do nothing or want to do every test under the sun unnecessarily. I would just like to have a better understanding before we taker her to the vet if thats what she needs. thanks! |
Is it yellow foamy? If so that's because her tummy is empty. From my experience, when one of my girls eat something they shouldn't have, I end up at the vet. Is she still vomiting? Is she drinking? Are you thinking she swallowed a piece of rawhide? If you think that's the case I would consult with a vet for sure. Good for you on having insurance. Sounds like you need to find a vet you can trust. Keep us updated on how she's doing. |
Sounds Luke bike from empty stomach. Mine do that if they haven't eaten. |
The morning issue could just be bile from being too empty - how is she doing this morning? What do you mean by she was given a "white bone thing"? |
The vomit was so small it was all foam. IDK what it looked like the day before, my boyfriend was the one who cleaned it up and he said he doesn't remember. She is still not eating like normal, but no more vomit that I know of. Drinking normal, going potty normally, and she wanted to play fetch all night tonight. Yes, the white bone was a raw hide, I never have given her one so couldn't think of the name. The people she stayed with gave her lots of treats, and if I give her a treat first she will eat a little. But she is a little hungry hippo, so the fact that she doesn't eat all her food the moment I give it to her is worrisome. I don't know how much of it is sickness, how much of it is wanting treats, how much is missing the other yorkies she stayed with, and how much of it is the fact that the food is almost gone (idk maybe not as "fresh"?) The only other thing is that she is starting to pant A LOT when she shouldn't be that hot. |
My opinion would be take her to her vet....panting can also be a sign of stress...and if she isn't acting normal she may be hiding other symptoms. |
I agree. I would take her in to the vet. It is always better to be on the safe side. |
