Anyone have PROBLEMS with Joint Supplements?? My Murphy a 5 lb 7 year old Yorkie was taking Phycox, the vets office told me to give him 1/2 chew everyday, well he was fine with it for 2 weeks , but then stopped eating it and seemed to act abit funny. He would just stand and stare at you and moved around alittle slow. He lost interest in playing and just being himself. He did get a slight loose stool and it was very dark looking, and believe it or not it smelled like the Phycox. I stopped giving it to him and he seems like his old self. Just curious, if anyone else has had any problems or concerns with Joint Supplements. Thank you :) :aimeeyork |
Poor Murphy. I do not have any personal experience with this or another joint supplement, but supplements can cause stomach upset in humans and dogs. Was Murphy eating the supplement with his meals? I found the instructions that said: "Phycox products should be given with food or after eating to avoid gastrointestinal upset." If eating with food doesn't help, I would talk to your vet about trying a different supplement. |
Oh my, I gotten a sample bottle of Phycox from an order of nutrical on ebay and it didn't mention giving with food O.o. Granted I've given my jack russells bits of it and not my yorkie baby (as my older dogs would be ones it'll be more useful for, not my yorkie baby). I only gave it to them for a few days, but hadn't seen any bad reactions except they weren't as crazy about eating it after a couple of days. |
I used to give Cosequin RS as a joint supp, and never had probs with it...can you switch to that one, or are you trying to make this one work? |
