Stinky Farts Ohhh my, i did not want to air Chewy's dirty laundry on this site but it has to be done. Chewy by baby girl has WICKED smelling farts. When she lefts one go (BTW they as silent) the cat leaves the room and i am slightly sick. For the first couple days we blamed my husband till it happened when he was not in the room. Blueberry pancakes made up for us blaming the husband. What could be causing it??? What we feed our baby. Water unlimited filtered revers osmosis always out. Am meal 1 Tbsp Fromm Four-Star dried, 1 tsp cottage cheese or pumpkin puree, and 2 matchstick carrots (leftover from making daddies lunch) Lunch 2 Tbsp Fromm Four-Star Afternoon treats about 1 tsp Fromm Four-Star Dinner 2 Tbsp Fromm Four-Star ( most times only eats half) Suggestions??? |
Yes, I'd change her food asap - it's something in what she is eating that's causing gas. It could also be the carrots so you could try eliminating those and wait a week, if gas is still there...then you do need to change kibble. I'd perhaps choose a different protein and carb source. You could stay w/in Fromm, perhaps. |
I'm suspicious that the cottage cheese can be causing the gas, so that would be the first thing I ditched. If there was still gas, I would omit pumpkin next. If there is still gas, then a kibble change is probably warranted. |
Fromm looks like a great food but it may be hard for her to digest. Broccoli and cauliflower in some of them? My pup has issues with most of the "great foods" she needs things a little more basic. It was a little funny when she was on one that made her fart, the look on my husband's face was kind of priceless. Amazing someone so tiny could create such a smell. |
Here is an article that has some good information: Dog Farts -* Tips on how to stop smelly dog farting |
My little sweet cute Jewels can clear a room I used to blame my Husband but those dog food farts are kinda distinguishing |

We use Fromm 4 Star Nutrionals Chicken a la veg. Have to admit, I have read numerous complaints here and in other forums about Fromm and stinky gas. We have not had that problem, but if eliminating the fresh food items doesn't fix the problem, I would try another kibble. |
Farting and Food Beware lots of TMI So it seems Boomer and Thumper (not sure which one since it is silent but I think it is Boomer) keeps letting one rip. At least 1- 2 times an hour. (sometimes more) I read it could be his diet. He has been on Blue Buffalo small breed before I got him and I just changed it to Healthy Weight Blue Buffalo Small Breed. Similar Ingredients of Chicken and Brown Rice. Could that make a difference? Should I change brands or just different flavors like Lamb or fish. What I have been giving them Blue Buffalo Healthy Weight Chicken and Brown Rice Training Treats (Peanut Butter Flavor) Peanut Butter treats Peanut Butter in Kong (Just realized they are getting a lot of Peanut Butter) 1 Nylabone completely gone when I came home (but farting started before giving it) Also Boomer's poop is more soft than Thumper's who is more clumpy. I don't want to rush to the vet every time (Also insurance hasn't kicked in yet for another 14 days) I think there is a problem. Being a first time dog owner to rescue dogs I seem to be worrying over everything which is my own problem in of its self. I can't thank you all enough for being patient with me and all my questions. I truly appreciate all the feedback even if its not what I want to here but may need to at the moment. I read organic yogurt can help as well. I will see how the next few days. I need to re-order food next week and may try to change the flavors. |
^^ I would eliminate the peanut butter and the other treats to start. If that doesn't fix the problem, then consider a different food. You can test other treats one by one, but try without first. |

I may end up changing the food because Boomer's stool is very soft and when I try and pick it up there is always left over residue which makes a huge mess. They both like the food and have no issues eating it though so maybe just a different flavor with less protein will work. Its hard to tell which one is farting because they are always next to each other it just comes from their general direction. |
My boys do not do well with peanut butter. Gives them soft or loose stools and gas. So it might be that ditching the peanut butter will solve all of your problems. |

Whoa , I know what you mean about the gas problem . My Kaiah was having some bad ones and rumbling tummy . I suspect it was the food , Zignature Turkey . It was limited ingredient but a ton of peas and a lot of fiber . I started searching for a new food and found Victor and gave it a shot .. Yay , no more gas . Even took care of the watery eyes .. All the dogs are doing great on it so far . None of my dogs can eat treats of any kind . Here is a link to the food if you are interested .. Victor Dog Food Professional Sample| Sport Dog Food It does come in smaller size bags ... |
My two are on a grainfree lamb onlyfood (alternate with fish only every 6 weeks) (poop pickup is carefree!)- they do not get any treats but a few cheerios for tricks. If I am serving rice for dinner I usually give them a teaspoon mixed into their kibble and Ziva usually stinks me off the couch that evening! Yogurt on the other hand seems to solve any of her sensitive tummy issues. She is also sensitive with carrots and green beans. |
