My yorkie isn't eating So I just got my yorkie the other day, he's not a pup. He is around 8 years old, and I got him from a neighbor of my brother who no longer wanted him. Since he's been here though, he hasn't eaten. We have left dry food out for him but he won't eat it. He won't even take a treat after his walk or playing outside. Obviously it is worrisome. We have considered adding some wet food to his dish along with dry to see if it encourages him to eat, but i've seen varied ideas about this. Does anyone have any suggestions? |
Hi, welcome to yorkietalk. If the Yorkie has just been rehomed, they may get stressed and not eat for a few days. Make sure he knows where the water is. Hydration is more important than food. They can go a day or two without food but not without water. Also, try to keep him on the same food that he used to have and transition him slowly to any new food you want him to be on otherwise they can get a stomach upset. Just give him lots of love to soothe his stress and eating will come with it in a few days. You can add a tiny bit of boiled chicken breast to his current food but not too much. Give him lots of patience and love and I am sure he will come around. |
