Freeze Dried Raw I need some advice. I was thinking about adding freeze dried raw food to my pups diet. She is currently eating Royal Canin Puppy, and seems to like it better than her old food, but still doesn't LOVE it. Sometimes she will not eat till late afternoon even though I know she is hungry (she will walk around the kitchen licking the floor for crumbs). I tried adding wet which seemed to work until she had diarrhea and threw up the second day. After stopping wet she was fine. Now I am considering the freeze dried raw food, but I have 2 questions/concerns: 1) The only brand I see at Petco is called "I and Love and You". I can't find much info on this brand, does anyone here know anything about it? 2) Is this type of food easy to mix in? I am worried she will just eat the raw and not touch the dry kibble. I feed Natures Instinct Raw and their limited ingredient dry food. My three love it! it is very expensive, but has quality ingredients. I also feel the company is trustworthy. I get it at PetCo. |

Thanks for the advice. I may just have to give it a try! |
Have you tried just soaking the food in warm water? |

Yeah. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Depends on how hungry she is. The only problem with that is, if she doesn't eat it, I end up wasting food because I have to throw it out. I know she will eventually eat her dry food, but I just hate seeing her hungry and waiting so long to eat. She sometimes wont eat until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. She usually will end up eating about 1/2 a cup total if I'm lucky. |
Also, putting the food directly on the floor sometimes works too, but I don't really want to get her into that habit. Really would like for her to eat out of her bowl. |
My baby is picky also but does great on nature's variety pre made raw and Stella and chewys freeze dried raw. |

Do you mix it with kibble or raw only? I don't mind doing raw only, but I know it can get pretty pricey. |
I do raw only, it's expensive but he's picky. |
Primal and Orijen are other brands that have freeze dried raw. You can't get these from Petco though. We feed frozen raw from Primal but alternate to the freeze dried once in a while. |
This brand you're looking at is NOT actually raw - it's just freeze dried food. Read its full description and it explains more about that. It's still fresher than other prepared food, but these aren't freeze dried raw patties...just fyi. Still, looks like a good food! It's hard to say if she'll pick out this and leave the kibble behind as all dogs are different...worth a try though :). |

For nutrition, I believe it's much better than royal canin, which is what my yorkie was on before. I don't understand why many people rave about this food. Always read the ingredient label. I noticed that the royal canin yorkie puppy formula primary ingredient is chicken by-product, which I will never feed to any dog. The second ingredient is rice, which is a grain and dogs don't need that much grain (ingredients are listed by weight), for it to be the second ingredient. The fourth listed is corn, which is a filler. I don't think royal canin is quality food, but other's choose to feed it just because their babies like it. |
