Hypoallergenic treats. Any suggestions for Zoey on new Hills ID diet...? Do ya think Canine Caviar Holistic Dried Sweet Potatoes Dog Treats BY CANINE CAVIAR Would be ok? |
If you are feeding her hills science diet I wouldn't worry about holistic treats, but you want to feed whole food treats such as liver, fish, chicken, lung |

I would talk to the vet about treats and ask about sweet potatoes in general. After reading other threads about dogs who have had gastro problems or pancreatitis (which I know you said Zoey tested negative for), I get the impression that sweet potatoes should be avoided. Ladyjane (Linda) would be a good person to talk to about the treats she makes from Rx dog foods. |
I would ask vet. When a dog is on I/d for stomach upset that is all they want them to eat |

You could homecook under the supervision of a veterinary nutritionist. Some do phone consults.. I/D is not hypoallergenic. She may do ok with people food treats if they are the same protein or carb as the I/D ingredients. Honestly though, if a food is working for tummy troubles treats can cloud success and overcomplicate. |
If approved by your vet, I'd highly recommend Beams by Honest Kitchen - all they are is pure dehydrated fish, and that's it. :) |
