Tick!!!!! I found a tick on guido about a week ago and a half ago. In my moment of panic tried removing it with tweezers and crushed it with the head stuck in his skin. Took him to the Vet/ER that night and they removed the rest of it. I'm a little concerned he might have gotten Lyme disease from it. He has been extremely lethargic, goes and sleeps in odd places, and seems kind of depressed. I've noticed his appetite isn't the same either. He eats, just not as much. Just been acting very distant and not himself. How long does it take to notice symptoms of Lyme? Would a blood test even detect it that soon? Anyone ever experience this with their babies? |

Was there any change in his diet? Gave him a new type of treat? I think it'd be best to call the vet and see what they recommend. |

My Phoebe is on Advantix II, and I found a tick enbedded in her belly today:mad:! I called Bayer & waited 30 minutes for them to tell me that not "ALL" ticks are killed or repelled! WTH? I'm very upset, but don't know of any better options out there......... |
I just discovered a tick (didn't know what it was at the time) on Ella and had it removed by the vet (still alive :() and they suggested a blood test 4-6 weeks later for lyme disease etc. They mentioned it's been a particularly bad season for ticks so I've got her on Revolution. Haven't noticed any change in her so I'm hoping we're clear..no Lyme disease etc. Vet mentioned to look out for any diarrhea, vomitting, change in behaviour/eating patterns. If you're little one is still acting funny in a day or two I'd suggest going to the vet..I'm not sure if there's anything they can do to treat this if they haven't tested for lyme disease but it's always good to get them looked at. Keep an eye out around their face, neck and armpits..seems to be the hotspots but I'm definitely happy to have her on a flea/tick prevention medication incase there is another bite, at least it'll die and fall off. Yuck Good luck! |
