Help ! I don't know if my yorkies can mount. Hello , i have searched everywhere and asked many yorkies owners but did not find the right answer , i hope you can help me out . I have 2 yorkies Sara and Zeus . Sara is like 1,9 kg/1,6 years and shes a toy and Zeus is a giant :D yorkie he has like 5 kg/5 years. Sara is in her period right now ... and the giant york doesnt sleep doesn't eat very much and he is always chasing her day and night for like 2 weeks (in the first week he was less interested) We don't know what to do.... we would love to have another yorkie from them ... but its that possible ? isn`t the difference to big between them? And if Not , how can we help them do this ?! Excuse my english and have a good day ! Elena |
Hi Elena - welcome to YorkieTalk :). Yes, in my opinion this male is too big to mate w/ this female, you could end up w/ puppies who are too large and a C-section operation could be needed. I would not breed them. |
It would be a risk and if you enjoy them as pets dont take the risk with your girl there is also alot more to breeding then just putting two dogs together. I found out the hard way with a cat of mine |
The male is too big and shouldn't be allowed to mate with that smaller female... It would be taking a risk in losing your female... She would probably have a very difficult birth. Please prevent it. |
So, converting kg to lbs I see she is 4 lbs and he is 11 lbs. Yes, it could be harmful or deadly to breed her with a male that large. Most breeders will not breed a female under 5 lbs anyway, and certainly not to a large male. I do hope you will choose to have her spayed, and him neutered, and just love and enjoy them as your beloved pets. It would be devastating for you to lose her, trying to reproduce just so you could have another. Good luck, and I hope it is not too late to prevent them from mating. |
