Help needed- info on flea meds and Hw protection Took my Bella for Heartworm and Lyme tests - negative. She is very sensitive to medication and vaccines. She weighs 6 pounds. They gave me a script for Sentinal Spectrum and a flea collar Scalibar as I don't like to put the topicals on my pet as she gets sick- lethargy, vomiting, etc. I've been reading on the collars and have decided not to use. But I need something for fleas and ticks. I have left over plain Sentinal HW med (good until 2017). I want to use the least invasive, least amount of meds possible but keep her from Heartworm and fleas/ticks. Can anyone help with recos for products? I'm going crazy with all the names. My vet offered the alternatives of Actyvyl, Parastar and Vectra for use with the Sentinal Specturm. For now I will use the Sentinal plain that I have in stock. Suggestions? #1. Need the safest weight based flea protector (0-10lbs) #2 Need the safest weight based Heartworm protector ( 0-10 lbs) |
We just started using the Nexgard for flea and tick, it's a chewable much like Heartgard. Maggie hated the Frontline, she would also get lethargic and act sickly. I split the vial between her and Buster but she still acted lethargic and sickly, however, I never saw her vomit. We use the Heartgard and have used it with success. |
I bought Nexguard this time and mine all seemed fine after using it. As a matter of fact this reminds me they are due for their second dose today :) |
Thanks for both replies. I will look into Nexguard. |
I use Heartguard or Interceptor for HW. Interceptor is more weight specific. |
