In my 18 years experience with the yorkie regarding their food--- It's best to buy a good "limited ingredient" no preservative, no wheat corn, Soy Dairy or Eggs formula. With my present yorkie, I feed her Blu Basics limited ingredient turkey & Potato recipe.. It's Gentle on Digestion. These dogs have very sensitive stomachs. Less is more with this breed. I will however at times add a bit of boiled rice to this dry mix. Her treats have been and will always be baby organic carrots.. I don't believe in treats homemade or otherwise for this breed. She loves the carrots which I cut in four small pieces. Why buy a good organic all natural treat or bake with something that could cause an upset in the digestive system -- I've seen this happen. Ruger was on Nutro Lamb Meal & Rice Formula, and the local pet store recommended Nutri Source Lamb Meal & Rice Formula. Exact same ingredients and cheaper, but Ruger seems to like it better. Ruger is very healthy and happy, and my vet isn't big on designer foods unless your dog needs it for some reason. |
I'm happy to hear your pup is doing well on his food.. That's all that matters.. By the way.. Blu is NOT a designer Food.. Just Sayin :) I had my first yorkie on Nutro per her breeder.. She did fine. My second breeder said Blu. Lexi is fine with this food and I will not change unless she develops an issue with it.. As the saying goes.. If it "ain't" broke…. Don't Fix it. :) |
I tried Natures instinct raw boost due to a few recommendations, and,WOW!!! He LOVED it!!! I tried giving him a little at first to see if he liked it, and he ate it all and came running over to me looking for more!!!! I've never seen him get this excited about dry kibble! Thank you for all the recommendations,I will alternate between Nature's Variety instinct raw boost and Acana to give him some variety, no one likes to eat the same thing everyday, and thanks to everyone's help,I now have 2, 5 star top rate foods to alternate between! |
Say Acana, are they close enough that you can go from one flavor to other without problems? Most dogs I always start by mixing in a little new food and increasing over time to not get pooper problems, diarrhea and such. |
Does anyone use "Wellness" for their yorkies? I use this brand and I need some opinions on this brand. |

Thank you for your feedback I just want the best for my Royal :):):thumbs up:thumbs up:thumbs up:):) |
Acana is one of the better kibble on the market, maybe try rotating different flavours adding a little spice to the mix they have a good range |
