Does anyone feed Solid Gold dry? Hi there.. My little one is not a picky eater but she seems to have a sensitive stomach. She has been eating Earthborn but I've become leary of it as even though it is "holistic" when you read the full ingredients there are things that I cannot even pronounce. That's frightening. I'm looking at Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken: Ideal for growing small and medium breed puppies, to maintain total health. Protein, Min 28% Fat, Min 14% Fiber, Max 4% Moisture, Max 10% Calories per cup, 370 Lamb, Lamb Meal, Ocean Fish Meal, Brown Rice, Peas, Cracked Pearled Barley, Pea Protein, Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Rice Bran, Tomato Pomace, Flaxseed, Dried Eggs, Natural Flavor, Salt, Choline Chloride, dl-methionine, Salmon Oil (source of DHA), Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Dried Chicory Root, Parsley Flakes, Spearmint, Almond Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Sesame Oil (preserved by mixed tocopherols), Yucca Schidigera Extract, Kelp, Thyme, Blueberries, Cranberries, Apples, Lentils, Quinoa, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Calcium Panthothenate, Riboflavin, Copper Sulfate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (vitamin B6), Thiamine Mononitrate, Manganese Sulfate, Zinc Proteinate (a chelated source of zinc), Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate (a chelated source of copper), Calcium Iodate, Cobalt Carbonate, Folic Acid, Sodium Selenite, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Rosemary Extract Wondering if lamb would be the best or better to go the chicken route with the Solid Gold Sun Dancer: Sun Dancer is a chicken based, grain and gluten free dry dog food with a moderate protein and fat content. Sun Dancer includes three exciting new ingredients; tapioca, chia seed, and fructooligosaccharide (FOS). Tapioca is derived from a gluten free root vegetable and is an excellent source of starch which is vital to the production of dry pet foods. Chia seed is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids and has a naturally balanced ratio between omega 3 and 6. Chia is also full of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Fructooligosaccharide (FOS) is a prebiotic, which can help improve overall digestive health. Sun Dancer was formulated to fill the gap between foods like Hund-n-Flocken and WolfKing and Barking at the Moon. Its 30% protein content makes it a perfect choice for customers who would prefer more protein than our regular adult foods but not as much as Barking at the Moon. Palatability and digestibility studies have shown Sun Dancer to be one of the most palatable and digestible foods in the Solid Gold line and against key competitors. Crude Protein 30% Crude Fat 14% Crude Fiber 4% Moisture 10% 350 kcal/cup Chicken, Chicken Meal, Tapioca, Peas, Whitefish Meal, Quinoa, Potatoes, Canola Oil, Tomato Pomace, Sweet Potato, Chia Seed, Natural Flavor, Dried Eggs, Flaxseed, Dried Cranberries, Dried Pumpkin, Dried Carrots, Dried Apples, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Fructooligosaccharide (FOS), Salmon Oil (source of DHA), Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin Supplement, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate, Copper Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Calcium Panthothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Choline Chloride, Manganous Oxide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Sodium Selenite, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid, Rosemary Extract, Turmeric Altho it is troublesome that choline chloride is a salt derivative typically given chickens to promote growth. Anyone? |
I watched a video about 2 years ago on the Internet about how some name brand dog foods were made and it made me physically sick. The vet I work for carries two of these foods and recommends them. In fact, I was feeding Halo one of them myself !! I went to the Dog Food Advisor online and did some research and switched Halo to Fromm Food. Even with shipping, it's less expensive than the food I was getting at work with my discount and I don't have to worry about the horrible stuff that was in the other food. It's best to do research on your dog's food. |
I fed Solid Gold a couple times back when I fed kibble (I now feed pre-made raw) and I think it's a very decent food. Its history was always pretty neat...as was it's founder; but I think they were bought out by one of the big companies, weren't they? The ingreds don't look bad to me, even the less organic ones. |
I fed Thor Solid Gold Little Wee Bites for 3 yrs it's the one with bison. He loved it, in fact we fed our other 3 wiener dogs the same. After 3 yrs I changed up because Thor was being fuzzy. He did really good with that food and my vet approved of it. |
I feed Ian Solid Gold Wee Bits mixed with Wellness Low Fat. He has been able to maintain a healthy weight, and loves it. We had used Fromm, different favors, but he gained too much weight because of it. |
I have had chester on solid gold most of his life, he was on the sundancer and done very well on it, he just got bored of it, and diamond does not do there food anymore, different maunufacturing place so that is always good and very few recalls |
Solid Gold was the 1st grain-free food I gave to my yorkie & maltese with great results. They liked it & the beginning of my chapter of only quality grain-free brands from that point forward. I've tried a bunch of brands cause I like to give them a break, just as I think I don't want to eat the same thing all the time. Another really good one was from the folks at PureVita the turkey formula,..my local Dexter's deli said they're one of a few who has never had a food recall. Right now I'm trying this new one highly rc from DogfoodAdisor that bakes their kimble. It's from Flint River Ranch and one of their distributor sent me a bunch of samples so if anyone else interested her email/contact is below. I think I got it from here at yorkietalk. My super picky maltese likes it so that passed my biggest obstacle. 304 472 6006 • CELL 304 613 9088 • sharon.ours@frontier.com A Domestic Friend | Home | About Us • www.frrco.com/3JCD |
