Keeps eating Poop! help
 
My adorable fur baby Cooper keeps eating his poop. He is on a high quality diet and I am giving him Nasty habits but he seems to keep eating his poop. He will sneak off and do his business in the corner and go to lunch. Once I realize he is quite I know what he is up to and catch him in the act. Does any one have tips for curbing this bad behavior?

You should read some old posts by the YT guru, megansmomma. I would also PM her as she has several methods that can help with this problem. I too am having issues, I posted mine today also. It's slightly different of a problem but nonetheless mine is troubling also.

I was in your exact same situation 3 weeks ago! I also thought I was feeding my baby good food (blue buffalo, small breed), but although it IS good food, it wasn't good for her. I don't know if you ever did this, and it's kind of gross.. but after pineapples and probiotic yogurt didnt work, I looked at her poop a couple times. I noticed she still had undigested dry food in there so I ended up switching to Wellness Complete Health, Puppy... and after about 1.5 weeks the poop eating ended AND she has not itched herself at all. She would itch all the time when I fed her blue buffalo. Also, I have noticed her poop got darker and harder.. so I'm assuming the problem really was the food. What do you feed your baby?

Also, another thing.. on blue buffalo her poop smelled HORRIBLE! Her poop does not have any smell whatsoever on Wellness.. and on the bag it says they have certain enzymes for digestion. So far, I'm really liking wellness.. especially since the dry food size is PERFECT for little dogs!

Yup, when the poop isn't fully digested it's like a warm tasty loaf :eek: Changing foods is always a good choice when there are poop eating issues. The pineapple is actually a very good solution and works week if done correctly and given time to work into their digestive system. It's not an overnight fix. I'm going to see if I can find an old poop eating thread from several years ago and give it a bump up. :)

I had him on Nature's instinct raw exclusively and then I could not get him to eat so I added hard food in and I gave him Natural Balance Small breed. I notice when he gets hard food his stool is so much larger and more often. The problem has gotten so much worse. I agree it has to be the new hard food. I will try the pineapple and yogurt too.
