Does Yorkie needs diet with high Protein I've seen many posts discussing weather dogs should have diet with high protein. Does Yorkshire terrier really benefit from diet containing high % protein (for example, over 40% protein)? Note: My two yorkies - Emma and Terry are currently feeding with dry food with ~30% protein, 16~18% fat and rest in carbohydrate (Carna4) Thanks! |
The food you're feeding is just fine, so no worries there. I feed a higher protein diet bc I prefer them to the higher carb diets. But there are dogs here who are on ALL kinds of diets, and they all do well. It's partly a matter of preference on your part, and partly what works for your kiddo the best. |
Mine are on 30% protein and they do very well! Some would say that is a high amount of protein, but it seems to agree with them. They are very healthy at this point in time with no illness or diarrhea. |

Like many people on here will tell you, it's kinda down to the dog. If your dogs can handle it fine then feed it, some dogs require less due to health and digestive issues |

Dogs should have meat protein first and foremost, I recommend orijen or acana to friends who feed kibble. Orijen is usually higher in protein than acana. I feed raw so my boys are only getting meat proteins. They don't need carbs in their diet at all, but again, owners choice, you feed what you like and what you feel works for your pets |
