Vomitinh We have a 1 1/2 yorkie. He vomited all his fodd, and now bile. Poky will drink water and bring up bile. We are in this snowfall way to get my vet. Still peeing. Do dogs get a stomach bug like humans? With holding food, help |
IMHO: Withhold all food and water for 4 hours or so. Make some chicken and rice (1:1). After 4 hours, offer him about 1 tablespoon of the chicken rice mix and about 1/8 cup of water. If he keeps this down, repeat in 2 hours, etc. What color are his gums? Are they sticky to the touch? |
Poky will not let me look in his mouth. Nose is wet, still peeing somewhat active any suggestions, held down a few oyster crackers for 45 min, made and mistake and offered water |
How is Poky doing? Isn't oyster crackers too salty? |
He is a very fussy eater so oyster cracker were better than nothing, brought them up, no food for about 3 hours then I sW you could give dogs xantac, gave him a small part of pill would only take with animal crackers, keep that down for 2 hous and bright that up. Has had a normal bm. Snowed in if he makes it thru the night hoping vet will be open. Scared |
Well, usu dogs throw up yellow bile when they have an empty stomach...IDThink you should be giving him OTC drugs unless approved by your vet. You def shouldn't be getting the dosage info over the internet. So he threw that all up too? Please do not give him anymore crackers or pills. Make sure he's drinking water, syringe the water into his mouth if you have to. Do you have any chicken breast & white rice @ home? Like kjc mentioned & please check his gums, it should be moist & pink. Have someone hold him while you check. Please take him to the vet as soon as you can, constant vomiting can be a serious sign of something going on. He can get dehydrated very fast...I hope he'll be ok & you can take him in the morning... |
Pumkin helps settle mines tummy |
you could try baby food as well, make sure no onion powder in it, no otc meds could be dangerous unless vet has approved it |
Any updates on Poky? Hope no news means he's feeling better... |
Hoping Poky is better. When Rosie is vomiting, with holding food is what we do. If she doesn't drink we use a medicine dropper to give pedialyte. Then we do a bland diet or Hills ID in small amounts. Please update when you can. |
I know they can be fuss pots but check the gums. If they are tacky your dog is dehydrated. I always keep pedialyte in the house just in case. If you are really concerned give your vet a call, otherwise, I'd suggest skip a meal and then try giving him a digestive enzyme on his food and perhaps some yoghurt or a probiotic and feed little amounts at a time. I agree with some boiled chicken too, it's a gentle protein and easy for an upset tummy to handle still would add a digestive enzyme and probiotic and feed small amounts at a time. |
