Horrible Gas Coco has had really horrible gas for the past two days. I mean to the extent it will run you out of the room. The only thing that I have changed is that I bought some frozen cut green beans by Birds Eye and gave her some. She has had frozen green beans before but not the BirdsEye brand. Also, I bought a bag of the mini carrots and have given her some of those. Could the green beans be the problem??? Her food is still BB Freedom and she has had no problems at all on this diet.. I did give her some Pepto Bismol yesterday and it seems to have helped a lot. But today she still has a bit of gas just not as frequent and as strong. Advice???? |
Dogs can't digest veggies & fruits, their digestive tract is too short, it just passes though them. You can puree it (slightly blanched optional) & drizzle it over their kibble, they love it! |
Callie started having really bad gas 5 months or so ago and I had changed absolutely nothing then I heard about honest kitchens pro bloom and had our local pet store order a box for me and we tried it and it was amazing. She loved it and no longer has gas. I give it to her every night after her dinner. Pro Bloom Goat's Milk - Dog & Cat Digestion Supplement | The Honest Kitchen |

I didn't realize that. In the past, meaning a couple of months ago I gave her frozen green beans that were whole. I would cut them up for her and give them to her straight out of the freezer because I had read from others here on YT that it was good for them. She absolutely loved those green beans and they never bothered her. I ran out of them and happened to have some canned green beans that had no sodium in them and gave them to her and she did fine with them too. So, I couldn't imagine these frozen green beans giving her such horrible gas unless it happened to be the brand. I had never bought Birdseye before. She LOVES green beans and carrots too (raw or cooked). So, for the last couple of days she has had no green beans or carrots because I knew that was all I had changed in her diet. She has just been rotten,:2omg: but we love her just the same.:love::love: |
I should've been more specific, they can't digest raw veggies. Frozen green beans are pre-cooked, so it should be fine. |
Hmmm.... Have you tried changing your husbands diet.... ;) It's pretty common for the pup of the house to get the blame of someone else's stink bomb. :D |

Blue Buffalo seems to be a really common problem for dogs to have gas and other GI problems. I wouldn't write off the food completely. |

Not saying that BB could not possibly be the cause, maybe it's just coincidental that the different brand of frozen green beans happened now.:confused:Of course it could have been the raw carrots. As Minimomo stated about the raw veggies above. I never knew raw veggies did that to their digestive track. Normally Coco gets frozen green beans and only once in a while canned (No Sodium) but this wasn't the case this time. I do know that she hasn't had any veggies of any sort the last four days now and the gas has finally stopped. So, that's why I tend to believe that BB is not to blame this time. I do know that whatever caused the problem...Oooooh I don't want it anymore.;) |
i think it's the bb. my baby's been on bb small breed for a few weeks now and she gets very gassy. i think i'm gonna stop feeding that. |
