Wellness I've always feed misty wellness but, recently I switched her to blue buffalo. But, noticed her stools are loose so I'm going back to wellness cause I've never had issues. I wanted to know which one is better the regular or the core I've never tried giving her the core so I wanted to know thanks :) |

Think I'm going with wellness healthy weight |
I would prefer Wellness over BB for sure. Stick with what works. But, BB I have read a lot of complaints about as far as stomach issues, etc. |
I have fed my 4 Wellness Small Breed Healthy Weight for the past year or 2 even though only one of them needs to lose weight (and hasn't). The small kibble is right for my 2 smallest pups with small mouths and teeth, and right for my liver-compromised Yorkie that needs a low-ish protein/fat food. Are you using if for weight control? I was surprised to know that it is only 10% lower in calories than their regular formula. Previous to this is fed Natural Balance, and thought it was good. However after switching to Wellness, I saw an increase in their perkiness, playfulness and vitality, that I think means they are thriving. |
By the way, remember to switch foods slowly, mixing some of the new with the old and gradually increasing, to avoid tummy upsets. I'm sure you already know that, but am posting in case others don't remember. |
Did you switch the food fast or slowly? Sometimes switching fast can upset there stomachs. |
When I feed Teddy Wellness, I prefer the Core just because he's pretty active and we have trouble keeping weight on him. His coat looked really awesome on the Ocean..I think the higher protein and fat helps with maintaining his good body condition. I would pick a different formula other than the Core ones for an inactive dog like my Toki although we did feed her the Core Reduced Fat with success when we had to limit her activity and get her to lose weight at the same time...her coat kind of suffered though, possibly from such a low amount of fat...she easily gains weight and is not as active as her brother so I'd lean toward different formulas (lower in fat, protein, calories, etc) now like the Complete Health formulas that you're currently feeding. |
Thanks my Yorkie is not over weight I just that that with the core she will gain the weight. |
I think if you feed a higher calorie/fat/protein food, and you want to avoid weight gain, you just cut back on the amount a little. |

We actually feed a combination of the wellness and blue buffalo. We do grain free, soy free. (Allie has allergies and will chew her paws) On the suggestion of a breeder here, I'm looking into the honest kitchen. |
