Royal Canin Mini vs Organix Puppy Dear all, I've been feeding my boys (6 months) Royal Canin mini and I just got told today by their groomer that RC is no good for yorkies because of the artificial ingredients in their products and causes intestinal / bladder problems in yorkies. I was a bit skeptical as my vet recommend RC. What do you all think? Groomer recommends a brand called Organix. Have any of you tried? My boys were doing fine with RC, just starting to be less enthusiastic about their kibbles these days so thinkin abt changing their diet. We've just been feeding the kibbles 2 times a day 1/4 cup. Should I supplement with some real meat some times? Thanks for your help!! :aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Your groomer is clueless about the results of extensive testing that goes into the scientifically based formulations of RC...she should stick to grooming. I have fed RC for over 25 years with excellent results in all my Yorkies....I have NEVER had one case of any adverse reaction from RC, especially any of the disasterous diagnosisis your "nutritionist groomer" has attributed to RC. My dogs are fed RC from conception to grave on each of the formulas RC has.....I have not needed to feed any of the prescription diets, and I have not had to feed that newest formulation for allergies. My question: Does your groomer or the outfit she works for, sell Organix? Unless your pups are having a GI upset due to allergies to ANY of the contents in RC, they will be absolutely healthy and will do great on RC. The nutritional content of RC is based on years of testing each of the formulas, and "evidenced based outcomes" for each of the formulas.....that means tested tried and true! |
Thanks so much Yorkiemom for your reassurance about feeding my boys RC as you have over 25 years experience! The boys were doing fine with RC mini junior since they were 4 months old, but recently they have been picky and turned their noses. Would you recommend the RC junior yorkshire terrier 29? I saw in YT threads that yorkies loves this. Also, should I supplement kibbles with real beef/ chicken meat and veges ? What diet do you recommend ? I really want to get this right as what the groomer said about intestinal and bladder problems really freaks me out. Thanks!! :aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
If I add anything to the RC kibble, which is the Puppy Starter until they are 8 - 12 months old....I would add a little of the canned puppy food....not the puppy mousse, but just the canned puppy food. You could cut a little of that into the kibble....they usually come back to eating the kibble with no problem, and they adore the canned puppy.....That puppy starter kibble is really geared to enticing puppies to eat, and if they start getting picky, give them a little while to "get over it"...adding the canned puppy food will help. |
We feed RC - great results and reliable product. Your groomer is an should stick to grooming not nutrition. |
Thanks both! I will stick to RC and add fresh foods. Today I mixed my RC kibbles with steamed carrots and chicken & they love it : ) I'm so happy to see them loving their meal time! Thanks yorkiemom for your suggestion of mixing wet food in! |
RC feeder here too! ZoE started on RC mini baby dog, then YTpuppy29 and then YT28. She's almost three years old and is healthy as can be! |
dog Nothing wrong with Royal Canin. Organix dog food has other ingredidents that whole foods stores sell. Read the back of the bags. I had a chubby little guy and I think R.C. would add weight. They sell Organix at our Sprouts store. If your dog does well on R.C. I would stay with that. |
