Puppy with High ALT leve My Minnie did a blood test with a result of 145 ALT level. The vet said this number sometimes goes up and down for puppies. I am still very worried. I saw other posts about feeding high protein good would cause elevation of ALT level. Is it true? Minnie seems very healthy and very energetic with no sign of any sickness. She is current having mixed food- Acana, Ultra Nutro, and Formm. Can anyone give me any suggestion to lower her ALT level? Thank you. |
Hmm not sure how to lower it, but you should really pick one kibble and stick to it. Her levels could be high because you are feeding her 3 different kibbles. I would pick between Formm or Acana, if she is doing well on those. Please do not feed her Nutro, that food has made tons of dogs sick and have died from it. 1,517 Complaints and Reviews about Nutro Pet Foods |
Puppy ALTs can be high. A bile acid test should be done to rule out a liver runctioning problem. This test may not be completely accurate until pup is several months old. |
If she is happy and healthy don't let it worry you. She has no symptoms and the vet is not concerned. If you are feeding good quality food you should be ok. Low quality protein is what you really need to avoid as it is very hard to digest. |
