I'm having a terrible time with 2 out of 3 of my kids and both have entirely different issues. This is really getting so frustrating. :(
I'm beginning to think that maybe they aren't allergic to food but something in the environment. I've suggested it to our regular vet, the derm vet, and now the holistic vet but they all seem focused on the food.... ?
Jenny - have you ruled that out? (enviro vs food) | For Turbo, it's food intolerance. It makes him throw up. He also scratches his face/muzzle in the same spots, sometimes his ears & he licks his paws. His stool was always HUGE, I was scared that he had some sort of malabsorption issue going on. Mimi is 7#'s & Turbo is 6#'s, his stool was twice as big as her's & they eat about the same amount of food. Now his stool volume is normal & he's also getting some probiotics everyday.
Princess & Momo has enviro allergies & food sensitivities. They also have yeast issues, skin cytology confirmed. It flares up whenever they go through a round of antibiotics. They were on Temaril P & Benedryl for awhile since their allergies seems to be seasonal, also RX shampoos & wipes. Princess had to have antibiotics not too long ago bc of her colitis (or IBS, vet keeps giving her antibiotics:confused:) flare up & she had full blown yeast issues again. Her ears filled up w/brown gunk, stinky, itchy, underbelly got brown splotches...just miserable.:( It's cleared up nicely now & she's also getting probiotics everyday. Seems like Beef is her trigger but I also need to keep her on a strict low fat diet. I'm just avoiding common food allergens, like grains, chicken/turkey, white fish & venison (since Turbo is intolerant of this). These two show food intolerance via their poopies, it gets soft. When they had chicken premade raw, they got soft poopies. When they ate goat & rabbit, it was nice & firm. I think rotating their protein is very important.
What makes the vets think it's food related for your 2? What are their symptoms? |
