A stinky Yorkie My Yorkie, Oreo, is three years old. He has done fine up until this year. This year he has developed allergies and along with dealing with allergies, we have a very stinky dog. I can give him a bath in the morning and by evening, he stinks. I love Oreo, but he and I need help!! |
My mini schnauzer Dorrie is like that. Nothing makes a difference. Food, shampoos, etc. it's worse when she comes in from playing outside! I'll be watching this thread! |
dog I had a poodle that had allergies. She would lick and bite herself till she would stink. I took her to the dog dermatologist and he said feed her venison base food. I bought some Natures Receipe Venison and her skin cleared up. So if venison helps, look for a venison base food and try that. I used Hy-lyte shampoo from the vet. I do hope this helps. A lot of dog allergies is in the food and treats we give them. |

What are his allergy symptoms and how are you treating it? If the allergies are really affecting him, the most important thing to do now is figure out what will work to treat him. It also sounds like you need a medicated shampoo. I'd suggest this one: Amazon.com: SynergyLabs VF Clinical Care... |
Has he been to the vet for a skin scraping & cytology? Yeast is sometimes stinky, does he itch @ all? Eating These Foods Can Cause Dog Yeast Infection |
Stinky Yorkie Oreo has been to the vets four times this summer and ended up on antibiotic and prednisone. I am trying to prevent this happening again. I am shampooing him with antibacterial shampoo from the vet which seems to make his coat greasy. I have just switched him to raw food from the pet store. So far, no skin breakouts but, he is constantly licking his paws. This just started this summer! |
Maybe he's allergic to pollen & grass like many of our Yorkies. I wash their paws after every walk w/just water. Sometimes I use an antibacterial cleanser made especially for dogs if they went to the park or somewhere dirty. I used to use the RX shampoos & wipes for Princess, but it didn't do much for her. She has a yeast problem w/allergies (confirmed w/skin cytology). I use a coconut based shampoo by espree. Coconut has healing & anti-inflammatory properties. Premade raw food has helped tremendously for my guys. |
dog I bet it is in the food. I am so happy to hear you are watching the food. My one Yorkie licks his paws too. Just a habit. Food sure affects dogs. I just changed from Blue to Wellness and their stool is firmer. You will notice a difference in the skin as you get those allergins away from your Precious Yorkie. |
One of my girls has bad allergies and that stinky smell like a frito chip she had her skin scraped has been prescribed prednisone and Rx shampoo's. She also from time to time will need to get a shot because her allergies flare up. I have switched her to Grain free canine caviar Venison and also give her Grain free sojos. Both foods have been working for her. I watch everything that she eats because any thing will set her allergies off. I bathe her with Synergy Labs-Veterinary formula clinical care Antiparasitic & Antiseborrheic medicated shampoo that has worked better for her than the RX that cost more and does nothing. Allergies suck and it is so difficult with these little ones. Good luck with your baby and please keep us posted! |
