yorkie and arthritis Hi all, my yorkie baby is almost 7 years old and he's getting arthritis in his two hind legs. The vet took a look 2 weeks ago and says she couldn't tell if he's in pain or not since he was shaking while she was checking him. But she did say that he'll get arthritis as time go by. She also says his knee caps pops in and out. The vet prescribed Temaril-P tablets and the meds are almost out. I do notice sometimes at night, but not always, he will lick and bite his legs. For 2 months, I been giving my yorkie baby cosequin ds, half a tablet. Since these are only supplement, and I do notice that he has more energy and play with my other yorkies more, but it seems as though he is in pain at night. Is there any kinds of meds I can give my yorkie baby at night for some pain relief? |
If the knee pops out, then he has LP - didn't the vet recommend surgery? Why did the vet give Temaril-P, was it for the steroid component and inflammation from the arthritis or ? You could ask for a pain med to give at night, that would be reasonable. I'm so sorry your kiddo is in pain. If he is a candidate for LP surgery, the surgery should result in lessening that pain some (if the arthritis still progresses, there will likely still be some pain). |
thanks for the reply. Yes, he was offered surgery and I was given a quote. I think the Temaril-P was given for inflammation. I remember she was talking about. |
