A couple more questions Since Cherry is so young, I am not sure about a few things. She's currently about 5 weeks (guesstimate) First, she didn't have her tail docked or dewclaws removed. I have no issue with keeping her tail, I actually prefer an undocked tail. But her dewclaws...is she too old to have them removed? I read that they're usually removed when they're just a couple days old, at the same time the tail is docked. Should we just wait and see if they become an issue? I trimmed her nails last week, and made sure to trim the nail on her dewclaws as well. Not sure if I should have the vet remove them when she gets spayed, or earlier. Or if I should just leave them. Second- when should I give her her first bath? I have puppy shampoo and conditioning spray, but I haven't bathed her yet. Not sure when I should start real baths. Right now, I'm just wiping her down with a no fragrance, sensitive skin baby wipe. Also, I read that a pin brush is good for brushing them. Is that what this is? Third thing- I bought her some tooth paste and a finger brush. Should I start using the toothpaste or just rub the finger brush on her teeth? When do I start actually brushing her teeth? Last thing-When can she start eating just dry food? She's been eating her kibble softened with water/goat's milk just fine, but i was just wondering what age can she start eating her kibble dry. |
1st i would see how extensive it is to have them removed as they may become in issue in later years. 2nd not sure on the bath being 5 weeks old and all. hopefully someone will chime in who has experience with younger babies. cannot really see the brush to clearly but you can get the maiden pin brush... toplinepet.com she is a member here and may offer you a discount. they rave about it. 3rd when she can properly chew the dry food. part of the reason to keep a baby with the momma till 12 weeks. |
