Always appear to be hungry Bentley is 1 yr and 5 months old. He is currently on Fromm and I feed 1/4 cup twice a day, per instructions on the bag. He is approx 7-8lbs and has a very solid/muscular build. As far as activity, he gets walked daily about 20 mins. I do not want to feed more and he ends up getting fat, as his activity level is not high. However, he always appears hungry. He eats all of his food in less than a minute. He tries to steal my other pups food after he is done. My other two take forever to eat, so Bentley will stand at a distance and stare, waiting for one to drop their kibble so he can get it. I do treat training and use zukes for treats, so he is getting something in between meals. Would you all increase his food amount? If so, how much more? Thanks in advance! |
Momo is always hungry too & tries to steal Mimi's food. Turbo & Princess will growl @ him. He finishes his in only a couple of secs & I have to hold him while the rest eats in peace loll. Could it be that Bentley is the alpha? I feed them 3 x's a day, split their meals into 3 instead of 2. He no longer chews his kibble, so I moisten it w/water & make it soft. I think the water also helps fill him up more. He gets premade raw for the other 2 meals & it's only a small nugget ea/but he does great. Since they eat 3x's a day, they hardly ever get any treats. I weigh them once a month w/a baby scale.:D |

Do you mean 1/4 cup 3 times a day or 1/2 cup (which is recommended) divided by three times a day? I have also been adding canned food with the kibble at one feeding, but cutting back on 1/4 cup when I add canned. |

Maybe switching the treats to a lower calorie treat? Like frozen thawed green beans or snow peas? They're a good source of fiber too. |

Thank you! Will try green beans since I have some frozen ones already available. |
