Frontline reaction-now what? I just gave Scarlett half of her Frontline dose and she went absolutely ape $%^&. She ran around rubbing and rolling and jumping until I had to get the dog whisperer, my husband, to calm her. I read several comments here about dogs who are allergic to this stuff and that it burns? What else do people use that works? Is it true that I only have to give her flea treatment in the summer? |

Pookie1W-will you have to sneak up on her n the future to give it to her. Apparently the fact that she was just groomed Friday and microchipped yesterday may have exacerbated the bad juju that the Frontline caused. She rolled and rubbed last time I gave it to her but not nearly as violently. |

Did it get put on in the same place the microchip went? |

Yes, same area as microchip. Uh oh. Please don't tell me I have to make another $371 trip to the ER vet. |

I would wash off the frontline (back of the neck area) gently and rinse well. Watch for any weird(er) behavior. Some dogs just can't stand the feeling of the liquid on their neck, but I think some may have gotten in the injection site of the chip and may be stinging her. If she settles down after washing it off, she may be okay. Wouldn't hurt to call a vet to be sure.... Then wait a week or two and reapply the frontline... check with your vet though but I would think it would be okay. |

The feel of liquid on the back is what I think affects Coco. She'll do the same move after a bath and forget about putting a bow in her hair. |

I have 2 that rolls all over the place, trying to rub off the frontline, kinda like they're trying to dry off after a bath. So I have to hold them til it dries somewhat. |

I honestly feel that frontline is very strong for small breeds it contains very harsh ingredients that will burn a small breeds skin. What I've used with my dogs is this great product called NEEM it is made in Switzerland safe for people and animals to use it is made of natural plants. This product has worked miracles. They have the set where you buy the shampoo and the spray. I tell the groomer to apply it with my dogs regular shampoo and when they are all dried up give them a quick spray that prevents from fleas and ticks from crawling up again. My dogs use it when they go to daycare and it is great although I only used it twice because since then they've. Never had fleas jumping on them no more. Here is the web page go to the shop now tab and look for the new products and you will see the NEEM SHAMPOO AND SPRAY I saw my groomer in Beverly Hills buy one and charge double for a bath with the NEEM product. http://analilia.swissjust-usa.com/Pages/Homepage.aspx |
