Cosequin Can anyone lead me in the right direction as far as joint supplements go? My dads JRT mix has very short legs, and is nearing 6 years old, and lately she gets VERY stiff at night. She will run during the day outside for a while, and every night she ends up somewhat limping and just walking very slowly. We wanted to try some supplements to see if they make a difference. She is picky though so I was going to buy the soft chews, but did not know if they were just as good as the other stuff: THanks! |
I gave mine cosequin, the one in the capsules. It's liver flavored, so I just sprinkled the powder on top of their kibble. Mimi liked it & she's the picky one. Some use dasuquin, the same maker as cosequin. |
I buy Ziva the Nutramax Cosequin Bonelets 85 chewable tablets- they have 500 mg of HCI and 500 mg of MSM (she weighs 7 lbs and gets 1/3 of a bonelet per day) on Amazon for $14 or so. I used to crush and sprinkle on her kibble or mix with a bit of cottage cheese, but now I just pop it in with her dinner. I was away for a week and she was limping when I got back, only took a week or so back on the tabs until she was running around again. |
My Lab takes Cosequin. We have the tablets. My Lab is big, so he just eats it mixed in with his kibble. I didn't even know they had soft chews. I might try those next time. |
The orthopedic surgeon recommended dasuquin and they have a chew. |
dog My boy gets a half tab of Dasuquin. He chews it up and I have no trouble getting him to take it. |
I am thinking of trying it out with my older male. I believe Missing Link makes a joint formula that I was going to look into. |
