Eating mommas food :/ 1 Attachment(s) My Pixie is 11 weeks old and ever since she started eating food on her own she always goes for her mommas food, I feed Tinkerbell (mom) senior small breed food and the puppies, well small breed puppy food, Pixie will still eat her own food but somehow always goes for her mommas food :/ I'm not sure how to keep her away from her moms bowl, Tinkerbell is so used to having access to her bowl 24/7 and now with Pixie doing this I have to put it up, but Tinkerbell is not happy :( Pixie also her her brother eating some of mommas food :( what should I do? |
Aw is that you? You are gorgeous! Is that Pixie.. and her brother? Hmm kind of a pickle here, Is there a certain time where Tinkerbell eats her food? Maybe if you time when she usually eats you can put her food down in a special spot where the babies can’t get to it. I think it would be easy to do that than try that with the young ones, since they are still young and really should be able to eat when they are hungry. |

We actually feed all our dogs a food that is appropriate for all life stages. That way there is no problem with the puppy eating the adult dogs' food. I also free feed so the food and water are down most of the time. All 5 of our dogs eat the same food. The puppies would go for the adult food instead of the puppy food, so this was our solution. We feed all our dogs Amicus adult food right now. The owner of Horizon said their adult formula is appropriate for all life stages and is good for the puppy, with the only difference between the puppy and the adult formula being the puppy formula has a little bit more protein and fat. There are several good all life stages foods available. |
