I add a tsp of apple cider vinegar to their water. |

I would think an actual yeast infection or bacterial infection in your kiddo's eyes would be caused by the actual bug, not by the water and/or not made worse by the water (or more vulnerable). It's summertime...is it dry where you are? I wonder if it's the dryness and/or the allergy season. Some allergy dogs will get eye issues/infections during allergy season bc of the irritation etc. |

Momo does have allergies, he has been seen by the vet for his weepy eyes. It has been clear all winter & spring, he still had weepy eyes but no red yeast/ staining & brown goopey eye boogers. It started when I gave him the Gerber water so I was wondering but think it's a coincidence. I'll be switching them to reg bottled water again & see if there's any changes. I also cut off a lot of the hair between his eyes & nose bridge & he has less eye boogers now. I think the combo of hair poking his eyes & his allergies was making it worse. |
Can say it makes her eyes better of worse, but I use it because it doesn't have fluoride and that kind of mineral that she doesn't need. Used to find it at Walmart but last two trips there they did not have it - found it at Target. |
I used it for Izzy for a few months the switched to filteted water without much noticable change. She even had tear duct irrigation and antibiotics. That helped for maybe a month. Next week we go to the opthamologist to check for infection or structural deformities. |

I'm an optician so I spoke with my doctor about this first ....I do a pure saline wash and keep the hair around her eyes shirt.. Whenever the hair starts to grow back , the eyes begin to water and the nasty discharge Accumulates.. Then we do the process over again.. About once a month...her vet said a lot of people have success with this method and don't have to put there puts on antibiotics ;) |
I do irrigate with saline a few times a week as needed but there doesn't seem to much build up of secretions in the eye, just around it. I've tried angel eyes natural because it diesn't have the antibiotics No difference at all. Eye envy works somewhat, but not enough to justify the cost. I use spa lavish facial was one a day which seems to work best but I would really prefer to treat the underlying cause if necessary. I don't really want to time to much since I'm trying to grow a full coat but will if the opthamologist says that is what is needed. good luck with your Izzy. I know she's just as wonderful as mine. |
Thanks :) and good luck to you too  |
I found out why Momo was having horrible staining despite drinking the Gerber Pure water...he had his teeth cleaned back in Feb & a tooth extracted. Now his tear stains are gone! It must've been an infection or bacteria in his mouth. Guess since mouth & eyes are linked. He's also on a great probiotic, digestive enzyme & krill oil, so I think they're helping too...from the inside out. |

Gracie had only minimal tearing when I started giving her distilled water to drink. We have hard water here. What little tearing she had cleared up within a week of the water change. Since then I have used the Gerber water as well as other purified waters that are on the market. Her eyes remain clear. I do think that there can be other issues that can cause tearing and they should be ruled out before relying totally on diet and water for results. |
