Puppy breath Mr.Milo had some serious puppy breath. I see at the pet store they have toothpaste and brushes for dogs and breath spray but I don't want to give anything to him that would cause harm or that I'm not sure of. Any recommendations? |
The toothpastes that are chicken flavored work really well. Dogs usually like the taste. It's best to start brushing while pups are young to help them get used to having their teeth brushed, otherwise it could be very difficult to get them to sit still while you do it. |
I use the flavored toothpaste too. Marcie likes chicken. Start the brushing early. Just for short periods then gradually increase. Lucy my rescue took to brushing right away. I was lucky she liked it. |
Mina and Skittles get their teeth brushed almost every morning and I use a dental gel on their back teeth every evening before bed. The gel kills the bacteria that causes bad breath and plac. Because Skittles has a heart condition,my vet isnt comfortable sedating him for a dental. Ive been using the gel for about 6 weeks and the plax on his back teeth has broken down some and he no longer has bad breath. |
